On the 22nd of February, Nitin Gadkari pays Homage to Sumatitai Suklikar on the occasion of her memorial day.
Sumatitai Suklikar was a remarkable Indian social worker and Indian politician. She dedicated her life to fighting against social injustice and oppression and was instrumental in uplifting the status of women in the state of Maharashtra. Her efforts have been recognized by various organizations, and she has received several awards for her contributions to society.
Sumatitai Suklikar was born on 24 December 1923, in a small village called Khamgaon in the Buldhana district of Maharashtra. She was the youngest of six siblings and grew up in a family that believed in education for all. Her father was a schoolteacher, and he encouraged all his children to pursue education. Sumatitai was an excellent student and completed her high school education in Khamgaon.
She went on to complete her Bachelor’s degree in Arts from Nagpur University and later obtained a Master’s degree in Social Work from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Mumbai. She passed away on 22 February 2011.
