Nitin Gadkari Pays Homage To Vinayak Damodar On His Death Anniversary.

On the 26th of February, Nitin Gadkari Pays Homage to Swatantryaveer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, a unique confluence of strong patriotism and incomparable talent, on his death anniversary.

Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, popularly known as Veer Savarkar, was an Indian revolutionary and freedom fighter who played a significant role in India’s struggle for independence. He was a multifaceted personality, a poet, writer, and political leader who left an indelible mark on India’s political landscape.

Veer Savarkar was born on May 28, 1883, in the village of Bhagur, located in the Nashik district of Maharashtra. His father, Damodar Savarkar, was a prominent figure in the region and was involved in social and political activism. Veer Savarkar was educated at Fergusson College in Pune, where he studied law and was exposed to revolutionary ideas.

Veer Savarkar was a staunch nationalist who believed in armed resistance against British rule. He founded the Abhinav Bharat Society in 1904, which aimed to overthrow British rule in India. In 1909, he was arrested for his involvement in a conspiracy to assassinate a British official and was sentenced to life imprisonment.

During his imprisonment, Veer Savarkar wrote several books and poems, including his seminal work, “The Indian War of Independence 1857,” which detailed the Indian struggle against British colonial rule. He also wrote extensively on Hindu nationalism and advocated for the creation of a Hindu Rashtra, a Hindu nation-state.

Veer Savarkar’s legacy is a subject of much debate in India. While he is widely regarded as a hero and a freedom fighter, his association with Hindu nationalism has been a subject of criticism. Some have accused him of promoting communalism and Hindutva, an ideology that emphasizes the primacy of Hindu culture and values.
