Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay, who was alternatively spelled as Sarat Chandra Chatterjee, was a Bengali novelist and short story writer of the early 20th century. The majority of his pieces concern the lifestyle, tragedy, and struggle of village people as well as the contemporary social practices that were commonplace in Bengal. No other Indian author has been as popular, translated, and adapted as he has.
Sarat Chandra spent most of his childhood at his maternal uncle’s house in Bhagalpur, Bihar. Chandra grew up in poverty. Chandra was a boy who loved adventure and was very daring. He began his education at Pyari Pandit’s pathshala, an informal village school, and later he joined Hooghly Branch High School. He was such a good student that he got a double promotion and skipped a grade. (First Arts) examination.
He passed his Entrance Examination but could not take his F.A. examination due to failing his Class X exams. Many students are unable to take the (First Arts) examination or attend college due to lack of funds.
