Nitin Gadkari, India’s Minister for Road Transport and Highways took to social media to honor Swami Vivekananda on his birth anniversary. Gadkari expressed admiration for Swami Vivekananda’s contributions, stating, “With his brilliant thoughts, Swami Vivekananda established Indian culture in the world. Many tributes to such an era pioneer on his birth anniversary.”
Swami Vivekananda, born Narendranath Datta, was a revered Indian Hindu monk, philosopher, and the chief disciple of the mystic Ramakrishna. Recognized as the Father of modern Indian nationalism, he played a vital role in introducing Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world. Born into a prominent Bengali family, Vivekananda’s spiritual journey led him to become a monk after finding his guru, Ramakrishna.
“After extensive travels across British India, Vivekananda sought to uplift his countrymen. His impactful presence at the 1893 Parliament of Religions in Chicago, where he introduced Hinduism to Americans, established him as a global figure. Vivekananda’s success in the West continued with numerous lectures and the foundation of Vedanta Societies in New York and San Francisco”.
“In India, he founded the Ramakrishna Math and Mission, an institution focused on spiritual training, charity, social work, and education. Vivekananda’s influence extended beyond philosophy; he contributed significantly to Hindu reform movements and Indian nationalism”.
Nitin Gadkari also extended his wishes to the youth on National Youth Day, recognizing Swami Vivekananda’s enduring impact. Celebrated on January 12, National Youth Day in India honors the legacy of Swami Vivekananda, acknowledging his role as a patriotic saint and influential figure in modern India.
