The National School of Drama (NSD) will be hosting the 22nd edition of the Bharat Rang Mahotsav (BRM) from 16th to 26th February 2023. The festival will take place across Delhi, Jaipur, Rajahmundry, Ranchi, Guwahati, Jammu, Srinagar, Bhopal, Nashik, and Kevadia, with the closing ceremony being held in Kevadia on the 26th of February.
The BRM will showcase a diverse range of plays and cultural performances, along with thematic panel discussions on the significance of theatre from a global perspective. The festival aims to promote the growth of new talent and also involves local artists by collaborating with institutes in different states where the plays will be held.
Along with the plays, the festival will also feature other activities such as book launches, director’s meet, national and international seminars, and master classes by renowned personalities in the field of theatre. With over 100 theatre companies participating annually, the BRM has established itself as a unique theatre fair that includes live theatre, exhibitions, symposiums, and seminars on various theatre-related topics.
The festival aims to promote international cultural exchange programs and provide a platform for exploring theatre traditions across the country. The noted directors will also be attending the festival.
The last BRM organized by NSD was held in July 2022 as part of the “Azadi Segment” of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, to pay tribute to the martyrs of the country. The NSD Repertory Company performed a unique play named ‘Kargil Ek Shaurya Gatha’ at the National War Memorial on July 25, 2022.
