India assumed the presidency of the G20 on December 1st, 2022, marking the beginning of its one-year tenure at the helm of the world’s largest economic forum. The country has taken on the responsibility of leading the group during a critical period, as the world works towards a sustainable future characterized by clean energy, low emissions, and sustainable development.
One of the key events during India’s presidency is the 1st Energy Transitions Working Group (ETWG) Meeting, scheduled to be held from February 5th to 7th, 2023. This meeting will bring together industry leaders, policymakers, scientists, and academics from different countries to discuss the progress made in energy transitions and explore ways to accelerate the transition to clean energy.
To support this objective, NTPC, India’s largest integrated power utility, will host an international seminar on Carbon Capture, Utilization & Storage (CCUS) on February 5th, 2023 at Taj Westend in Bengaluru. The seminar will be held on behalf of the Ministry of Power, Government of India, and is expected to be attended by a diverse group of stakeholders, including industry representatives, policymakers, scientists, and academics.
The seminar will focus on highlighting the importance of CCUS in achieving a clean energy transition and moving towards net-zero emissions. The discussions will explore the role of CCUS in reducing carbon emissions, its technological advancements, and the policies needed to support its implementation. The seminar will also provide an opportunity to showcase the best practices and innovations in the field of CCUS and to foster international collaboration and partnerships.
The G20 presidency of India and the 1st ETWG meeting, along with the international seminar on CCUS, will be significant events in the global effort to transition to a sustainable future. India’s leadership in this critical area will help to accelerate the transition to clean energy and pave the way for a more sustainable future for all.
