Ohio Mother Sentenced to Prison for Feeding Daughter Mountain Dew in Baby Bottles

In a tragic case that shocked the nation, Tamara Banks, a mother from Ohio, has been sentenced to prison for the involuntary manslaughter of her 4-year-old daughter, Karmity Hoeb. The heartbreaking story unfolded as prosecutors revealed the extent of neglect and mistreatment suffered by the young girl.

Karmity Hoeb tragically passed away in 2022 due to complications related to diabetes. Shockingly, it was revealed that Karmity’s mother, Tamara Banks, admitted to only feeding her daughter Mountain Dew, and that too, out of baby bottles. By the time of her passing, Karmity’s teeth were rotten, a grim indication of the severe neglect she endured.

Prosecutors highlighted the disturbing lack of medical attention provided to Karmity, despite her suffering from a “serious medical issue.” Instead of seeking help, her parents persisted in their neglect until the situation reached a critical point.

It wasn’t until Karmity turned blue and stopped breathing that emergency services were called. Tragically, a subsequent brain scan confirmed that Karmity was brain dead, underscoring the severity of the neglect and mistreatment she endured.

As a result of her actions, Tamara Banks has been sentenced to up to 13.5 years in prison, a reflection of the gravity of her negligence and its devastating consequences. The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilant care and attention to the well-being of children, as well as the legal repercussions of failing to provide such care.
