Pankaj Kapur was born on May 29, 1954, into a Khatri family in Ludhiana, Punjab. He grew up in Punjab and completed his education there. He developed a keen interest in theatre and acting while growing up. To pursue his interest, he then enrolled in the National School of Drama.
Personal life:
In 1979, Pankaj Kapur married actress and dancer Neelima Azeem. They had their only child Shahid Kapoor in 1981 and settled in New Delhi. The couple’s divorce was finalized in 1984.
In 1988, Pankaj Kapur married actress, Supriya Pathak. Sanah Kapur is their daughter and Ruhaan Kapur is their son.
