Piyush Goyal Engages with PLI Beneficiaries, Stresses Collaboration for Manufacturing Growth

Delhi: Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Textiles, Shri Piyush Goyal, engaged with Product-Linked Incentive (PLI) beneficiaries at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, in a session aimed at fostering better cooperation and manufacturing growth in the country.

During the interaction, Minister Goyal welcomed constructive criticism from various industrial sectors, acknowledging its role in facilitating better facilitation and synergy between the government and the sector. Emphasizing the need for cooperation, he sought constructive feedback from the beneficiaries present.

Shri Goyal addressed the constraints faced by the government, including CAG Audit, emphasizing the transparency of paperwork and the absence of irregularities. Stressing collaboration between the government and beneficiaries, as well as among the beneficiaries themselves, Goyal highlighted the mutual benefits of supporting each other to transform India into a manufacturing powerhouse.

The minister clarified that the PLI scheme aims to boost the manufacturing sector and should not make beneficiaries dependent on government services. He urged businesses to be outward-looking, emphasizing global competitiveness and scalability beyond the domestic market. Recognizing the importance of becoming global players, Goyal encouraged businesses to focus on volume scaling for cost-effectiveness.

“Highlighting his belief in the potential of every PLI beneficiary to become a success story, Shri Piyush Goyal outlined the scheme as an initial support for businesses on their journey ahead. He reiterated that, ultimately, competition would prevail, urging businesses to strive for excellence and recognition on the global stage”.

The session underlines the government’s commitment to fostering a collaborative environment, where constructive criticism and consultation play a crucial role in shaping policies and initiatives. Shri Piyush Goyal’s engagement with PLI beneficiaries reflects a vision for a robust and globally competitive manufacturing sector in India.
