Piyush Goyal Will Be On A Visit To New York And Washington DC From 9 To 11 January 2023.

Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, will be on an official visit to New York and Washington, D.C. from 9-11 January 2023 to participate in the India-US Trade Policy Forum.

Minister will interact with CEOs of reputed multinational enterprises, participate in community events, join roundtable meetings with business leaders and think tanks, and visit industries in New York during the first leg of their visit.

He will attend the Trade Policy Forum (TPF) meeting on 11th January 2023 in Washington DC. He will hold a one-to-one meeting with USTR Ambassador Katherine Tai before delegation-level talks.

The TPF Ministerial meeting, which occurs every four years, was held on 23 November 2021 in New Delhi. The working groups were reactivated after the last ministerial meeting. TPF is a platform for continuous engagement between two countries in the area of trade and investment relations.

The countries are looking forward to the meeting and are confident they will make progress on the trade issues. The TPF is co-chaired by the Minister of Commerce and Industry from the Indian side and the US Trade Representative from the US side.

He will also have a bilateral meeting with US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo in Washington DC. Some captains of the industry will also be interacting.

Both India and the USA are natural partners due to their trade complementarities, long-standing strategic and economic relationship, and people-to-people contact. Additionally, both countries are vibrant democracies. The two countries are also collaborating under the QUAD, I2U2 (India-Israel/ UAE-USA), and IPEF (Indo-Pacific Economic Framework).

The expanding bilateral engagement has regularly exchanged leadership-level elements. The outcomes of these visits have strengthened the multifaceted ties between the two countries.
