On the 9th of February PM Modi said in a tweet, “Proud of Lahari Bai, who has shown remarkable enthusiasm towards Shri Ann Her efforts will inspire many others.”
The Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, appreciates Lahari Bai, a 27-year-old tribal woman from Madhya Pradesh’s Dindori district, who has become the brand ambassador of millets in India. Lahari Bai has made a significant impact in the world of agriculture by preserving more than 150 varieties of millet seeds, a feat that has earned her widespread recognition and admiration.
Millets are a group of small-seeded grains that are highly nutritious and considered to be superfoods. They are a staple food in many parts of India, particularly in rural areas, and are widely cultivated for their high yield and drought resistance. However, the cultivation of millets has declined in recent years due to a shift towards more profitable crops like wheat and rice.
Lahari Bai’s efforts to revive the cultivation of millets are commendable, as she has dedicated her life to preserving and promoting the various varieties of millet seeds.
She has also been actively involved in educating farmers about the benefits of cultivating millets and has inspired many others to take up the cause. Her work has not gone unnoticed, and she was recently recognized by the government of Madhya Pradesh, which named her the brand ambassador of millets in the state.
