On the occasion of World Radio Day, Shri Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister, has extended his greetings to all radio listeners, RJs, and everyone else associated with the broadcasting ecosystem. On the 26th of February 2023, Shri Modi urged citizens to share their inputs for the Mann Ki Baat program.
PM Modi said in a Tweet, “Greetings to all radio listeners, RJs, and all others associated with the broadcasting eco-system on the special occasion of World Radio Day. May the radio keep brightening lives through innovative programs and showcasing human creativity”.
The United Nations General Assembly declared World Radio Day in 2011 to recognize the role that radio plays in bringing people together and promoting peace, dialogue, and understanding. The idea for World Radio Day was first proposed by the Director-General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova, in 2010.
Bokova recognized the need to celebrate the unique power of radio and to acknowledge its ability to bring people together, regardless of their differences.
