In his address to the 17th Lok Sabha’s concluding session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended Members for their dedicated service to the nation’s democracy. He emphasized the significance of the occasion, recognizing the pivotal role of Parliament in shaping India’s trajectory.
PM Modi underscored the mantra of “Reform, Perform, and Transform,” which guided the legislative agenda during the 17th Lok Sabha’s tenure. He lauded Members for their efforts in enacting key reforms, driving economic growth, and advancing social justice initiatives.
“Reflecting on the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, PM Modi praised Parliament’s resilience in ensuring continuity of governance amid the crisis. He acknowledged Members’ sacrifices, including the voluntary relinquishment of parliamentary benefits, and expressed solidarity with those affected by the pandemic”.
PM Modi highlighted landmark legislative achievements, such as the abrogation of Article 370 and the passage of transformative laws to empower women and marginalized communities. He also emphasized the importance of economic reforms, including simplification of regulations and promotion of innovation.
“Addressing India’s future aspirations, PM Modi invoked the spirit of national unity and progress. He underscored the significance of upcoming milestones, such as the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav and India’s 100th anniversary of independence in 2047, urging all to work towards realizing the nation’s potential”.
PM Modi outlined key priorities for the future, including strengthening national security, fostering innovation, and promoting inclusive development. He expressed confidence in India’s ability to overcome challenges and emerge as a global leader in the 21st century.
