PM Modi Extends Best Wishes as Amarnath Yatra Commences

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended warm wishes to all pilgrims as the annual Amarnath Yatra commences, marking the sacred journey to the revered Baba Barfani cave shrine in Kashmir. This yatra, deeply significant for devotees of Lord Shiva, is known to infuse spiritual energy and blessings.

Amarnath Yatra: Pilgrimage Commencement and Route Details

The pilgrimage began with an initial batch of over 4,600 pilgrims departing from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu on Saturday. The convoy, consisting of 231 vehicles, was flagged off earlier from Jammu by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha amidst fervent chants of “Bum Bum Bhole” and “Har Har Mahadev,” symbolizing devotion and prayers for a safe journey.

Upon arrival in the valley on Friday evening, the pilgrims were warmly received with garlands and cheers across Kulgam, Anantnag, Srinagar, and Bandipora districts. The welcoming spirit extended to include local Muslims, senior officials, police personnel, civil society members, and trade associations, underscoring communal harmony and support for the pilgrimage.

Local Support and Arrangements

Kulgam Deputy Commissioner Athar Aamir Khan affirmed the comprehensive arrangements in place for the yatris, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout their journey. The pilgrims reached the valley through the Navyug tunnel in the Qazigund area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, initiating the 52-day pilgrimage.

Journey to Baba Barfani Shrine

The Amarnath Yatra involves a trek to the holy cave shrine situated at an altitude of 3,880 meters. Pilgrims can embark on two routes: the traditional 48-km Nunwan-Pahalgam route in Anantnag and the 14-km Baltal route in Ganderbal, each offering unique experiences and challenges amidst the scenic splendor of Kashmir.

Prime Minister Modi’s message encapsulates the spirit of devotion and unity as pilgrims embark on this sacred journey, seeking the blessings of Baba Barfani.
