PM Modi Chairs 44th PRAGATI Meeting, Reviews Key Infrastructure Projects

Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the 44th edition of PRAGATI (Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation), an ICT-based multi-modal platform aimed at ensuring the timely execution of significant infrastructure projects across the country. This was the first meeting in his third term, marking a continued focus on collaboration between the Centre and State governments for effective governance.

PRAGATI Meeting: Review of Major Projects

In this crucial meeting, seven significant projects were reviewed, which spanned various sectors, including road connectivity, rail, coal, power, and water resources. The total cost of these projects exceeds Rs. 76,500 crore and they involve 11 States and Union Territories: Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Odisha, Goa, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, and Delhi.

Emphasis on Timely Implementation

Prime Minister Modi highlighted the critical importance of timely project completion, emphasizing that delays not only lead to cost overruns but also deprive the public of the benefits that these projects are intended to deliver. He urged officials at both Central and State levels to be acutely aware of these consequences and work diligently to avoid delays.

Environmental and Social Initiatives

During the meeting, the Prime Minister also discussed the “Ek ped Maa ke Naam” campaign, underscoring its role in environmental conservation during project development. Additionally, he reviewed progress on the AMRUT 2.0 and public grievances related to the Jal Jeevan Mission, both of which address vital water issues in urban and rural areas.

PRAGATI Meeting: Key Recommendations and Future Planning

The PM also stressed the importance of reforms in urban governance, comprehensive urban planning, and the sustainable management of resources such as water through initiatives like the Mission Amrit Sarovar program.

A Record of Achievements

To date, PRAGATI meetings have reviewed 355 projects with a total cost of Rs. 18.12 lakh crore. The 44th meeting reinforces the government’s commitment to transparent, effective, and timely governance, ensuring that infrastructure development meets the needs of India’s growing population and economy.

This meeting reaffirms the government’s focus on building a robust infrastructure framework while addressing the challenges of urbanization and environmental sustainability.
