N. Rangasamy: Early Life and Education
Natesan Krishnasamy Rangasamy was born on August 4, 1950, in Puducherry. He hails from a Vanniyar Tamil family, with parents Natesan Krishnasamy Gounder and Panchali Ammal. Rangasamy holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Tagore Arts College and a BL from Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, Puducherry. Before entering politics, he served as an assistant to Puducherry Minister V. Pethaperumal.
Political Journey and Achievements
N. Rangasamy’s political career began with a contest in the Thattanchavady constituency in 1990, where he initially lost. However, he won the 1991 assembly election with an overwhelming majority and was appointed Minister for Agriculture and Co-operation. He continued to serve in various ministerial roles, including Tourism, Education, Public Works, Civil Aviation, and Art & Culture. In 2001, he became the Chief Minister of Puducherry, a position he has held multiple times since.

N. Rangasamy holds the unique distinction of becoming Chief Minister within three months of forming his party, the All India N.R. Congress.
