The festival of Losar, also known as Tibetan New Year, is celebrated in Tibetan Buddhism. The holiday is celebrated on various dates depending on location (Tibet, Bhutan, Nepal, India), as well as tradition.
The festival is celebrated on the first day of the lunisolar Tibetan calendar, which corresponds to a date in February or March in the Gregorian calendar. The new year in 2020 started on February 24th and lasted until February 26th. The Year of the Male Iron Rat also commenced.
