The terrifying incident turned the highway into an inferno, with thick black smoke filling the sky. The collision led to the tragic deaths of several people, while over 35 individuals sustained injuries.
A Deadly Collision: The Chain Reaction
The deadly crash took place early in the morning when the gas tanker, in a yet-to-be-clarified cause, collided with several vehicles, triggering an explosive chain reaction. The gas tanker burst into flames, causing a massive fire that spread to nearby cars, trucks, and other vehicles, trapping many of the occupants. Witnesses reported scenes of chaos as flames engulfed the vehicles, making rescue operations incredibly challenging.
The highway, a major route connecting Jaipur and Ajmer, was completely shut down as emergency services rushed to the scene. Firefighters worked tirelessly to extinguish the flames, while paramedics provided aid to the injured. Several vehicles were completely destroyed, and the damage caused by the fire was extensive.
Prime Minister Expresses Grief and Announces Compensation
In the wake of this horrific tragedy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his heartfelt condolences and grief over the loss of lives. He took to social media to offer his support, stating, “Deeply saddened by the loss of lives in the accident on Jaipur-Ajmer highway in Rajasthan.”
PM Modi also announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the families of each deceased, while the injured would receive Rs. 50,000.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) further shared that the local administration was assisting the affected individuals and working diligently to ensure that the injured receive medical treatment and care.
This tragedy has left the region in mourning, and as investigations continue, the families of the victims are receiving support from both the local authorities and the government.
