PM Modi Extends Navratri Wishes, Prays to Goddess Skandamata

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extends heartfelt Navratri wishes to the nation and prays to Goddess Skandamata on the auspicious occasion of Chaitra Navratri. During Navratri, devotees venerate Goddess Durga in her various forms, with the fifth day dedicated to Maa Skandamata.

Chaitra Navratri, which commenced on April 9 this year, is a nine-day Hindu festival celebrated with fervor and devotion. It culminates with Ram Navami celebrations on April 17. As devotees prepare to worship Maa Skandamata on April 13, it’s essential to understand her significance and the rituals associated with the fifth day of Navratri.

Maa Skandamata, the fifth form of Goddess Durga, symbolizes motherly love and protection. She is depicted with four arms, holding her son Skanda or Kartikeya on her lap while riding a lion. The lotus flower, representing purity and enlightenment, adorns her upper arms, while one of her lower hands cradles the child Murugan, and the other is raised in the Abhaya Mudra, signifying fearlessness.

The name “Skandamata” derives from “Skanda,” the son of Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati, and “mata,” meaning mother. Skanda, also known as Kartikeya, is revered as the Hindu god of war and victory. Maa Skandamata’s worshipers seek her blessings for strength, protection, and wisdom.

As devotees observe the rituals on the fifth day of Navratri, they offer prayers, perform puja ceremonies, and adorn their homes and altars with vibrant colors and flowers. The divine presence of Maa Skandamata fills hearts with devotion and reverence, fostering a sense of spiritual upliftment and divine connection.

Prime Minister Modi’s invocation of Goddess Skandamata highlights the spiritual significance of Navratri and the profound devotion of millions of Hindus across the globe. As the festival progresses, may the blessings of Maa Skandamata bring joy, prosperity, and peace to all.
