Know About Bhogi:-
The four-day Pongal Festival Makar Sankranti festival starts with Bhogi. It falls on the last day of Agrahāyaṇa or Mārgaśīrṣa month of the Hindu Solar Calendar.
It is usually celebrated on January 13th according to the Gregorian calendar but this year Bhogi is celebrated on the 14th of January 2023. It is a widely celebrated festival in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and Maharashtra.
Bhogi is a day when people discard old and derelict things and instead concentrate on new things; causing change or transformation. At dawn, people light bonfires with logs of wood, other solid fuels, and any remaining useful wooden furniture from home.
The following day marks the beginning of the new year’s accounts, which are based on the first day of the harvest. Bhogi, like other festivals such as Pongal and Lohri, is dedicated to Lord Indra.
Amit Shah wishes all the Telugu people on Makar Sankranti and said that Bhogi, the Sankranti that brings happiness, Kammani Kanuma may bring new light.
