The event holds immense significance as it marks the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Mahavir, the 24th Tirthankar, revered for illuminating the path of peaceful co-existence and universal brotherhood through Jain principles.
Bhagwan Mahavir’s teachings, centered on principles such as Ahimsa (Non-Violence), Satya (Truthfulness), Asteya (Non-Stealing), Brahmacharya (Chastity), and Aparigraha (Non-attachment), continue to inspire millions worldwide.
Jains commemorate five major events of every Tirthankar, including Mahavir Swami Ji, known as Kalyanak. April 21st, 2024, marks the Janma Kalyanak of Bhagwan Mahavir Swami, and the Government is commemorating this auspicious occasion by organizing a cultural program at Bharat Mandapam. The event will feature the presence of Saints from the Jain community, who will bless the congregation and participate in the festivities.
In addition to inaugurating the Mahotsav, Prime Minister Modi will release a commemorative stamp and coin, symbolizing the reverence and respect accorded to Bhagwan Mahavir and his teachings.
