Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked a significant milestone in India’s infrastructure development journey by unveiling and laying the foundation stone for 112 National Highway projects, valued at approximately Rs. One lakh crore, in Gurugram, Haryana, on 11th March. The event, attended by lakhs of people virtually from across the country, underscored the government’s commitment to modernizing connectivity and fostering economic development.
Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the shift from holding programs predominantly in Delhi to organizing major events in other parts of the country. He noted the importance of this step in decentralizing development and ensuring equitable growth across regions. Expressing delight at dedicating the Haryana section of the Dwarka Expressway, Prime Minister Modi emphasized its transformative impact on connectivity between Delhi and Haryana, heralding a new era of prosperity for the region.
Emphasizing the government’s accelerated pace of project implementation, Prime Minister Modi stated that within three months of 2024, projects worth over Rs. 10 lakh crore have been either dedicated to the nation or had their foundation stone laid. He highlighted the diverse range of projects across different regions of India, emphasizing their role in driving economic growth and regional development.
Prime Minister Modi commended the Haryana government, specifically Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, for their diligent efforts in ensuring the punctual completion of infrastructure projects. He commended their dedication to modernizing the state’s infrastructure, crucial for Viksit Haryana and Viksit Bharat.
Prime Minister Modi reiterated his government’s holistic vision for infrastructure development in the Delhi-NCR region, emphasizing the completion of major projects such as the Dwarka Expressway and Peripheral Expressways. These initiatives, along with the expansion of metro lines and construction of international airports, aim to alleviate traffic congestion and pollution in the region, contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
Prime Minister Modi underscored the connection between infrastructure growth and poverty reduction, emphasizing how upgraded roads and digital connectivity in rural regions open up fresh prospects for villagers. He pointed out the unfolding of new opportunities in rural India, fueled by digital infrastructure and improved access to vital services such as healthcare and education.
