Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi marked a significant milestone in Jammu & Kashmir’s healthcare landscape by inaugurating the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Jammu. The inauguration was part of a broader initiative where PM Modi also launched and laid the foundation stone for various developmental projects across the region.
“Accompanied by Shri Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, and Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, PM Modi addressed the gathering, highlighting the transformative changes underway in the region”.
PM Modi emphasized the substantial increase in medical colleges and MBBS seats in Jammu & Kashmir over the past decade, underscoring the government’s commitment to improving healthcare access. He noted the exponential growth in PG medical seats and the establishment of new nursing and paramedic colleges, which will further enhance healthcare infrastructure and human resources in the region.
The inauguration of AIIMS Jammu signifies a significant leap forward in specialized medical care accessibility for the people of Jammu. PM Modi emphasized that this milestone would alleviate the need for residents to travel to Delhi for advanced medical treatments, thus saving valuable time and resources.
In his address, PM Modi reiterated his vision of a developed India by 2047 and emphasized that a developed Jammu & Kashmir is integral to achieving this goal. He called upon the people to work collectively towards this vision, leveraging the various developmental projects initiated by the central government.
Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, expressed satisfaction at the swift progress from laying the foundation stone to the inauguration of AIIMS Jammu within five years, highlighting the government’s unwavering commitment to healthcare infrastructure development.
Shri Manoj Sinha commended the central government for fulfilling the long-standing aspirations of the people of Jammu & Kashmir, particularly in areas of healthcare, education, security, and infrastructure. He credited PM Modi’s leadership for driving transformational changes in the region, including the decline in terrorism and the establishment of prestigious institutions like AIIMS, IIT, and IIM.
Dr. Jitendra Singh underscored the government’s focus on infrastructure development in Jammu & Kashmir, acknowledging PM Modi’s proactive approach in ensuring the successful implementation of ambitious projects.
