On 13th December 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated multiple development projects worth Rs 5,500 crore in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, to cater to the millions of devotees expected at the Mahakumbh 2025. These initiatives aim to enhance the region’s infrastructure, connectivity, and public amenities, ensuring smooth travel and accommodation for pilgrims.
Key Infrastructure Upgrades for Devotees
The inaugurated projects include vital rail and road developments such as 10 new Road Over Bridges (ROBs), flyovers, permanent ghats, and riverfront roads. These upgrades are expected to improve access and ease congestion during the religious event.
Clean Ganga Mission and Environmental Initiatives
In alignment with the vision of a “Swachh and Nirmal Ganga,” PM Modi also launched programs aimed at intercepting and treating drains that currently discharge untreated water into the Ganga River. This initiative will ensure that no untreated water enters the sacred river, promoting environmental sustainability.
Spiritual Tourism and Temple Corridor Projects
PM Modi unveiled several temple corridor projects, including the Bharadwaj Ashram Corridor, Shringverpur Dham Corridor, Akshayvat Corridor, and Hanuman Mandir Corridor. These corridors are designed to enhance accessibility and improve the spiritual tourism experience for attendees.
Tech-Driven Solutions for Pilgrims’ Convenience
To assist pilgrims, the PM launched the “Kumbh Sah’AI’yak” chatbot, which will provide real-time updates and support during the Mahakumbh.
Security measures for the event include AI-powered surveillance and advanced CCTV systems, ensuring a safe experience for millions of devotees.
