PM Modi Inaugurates Maharishi Valmiki International Airport

On a momentous occasion, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in Ayodhya, marking a significant milestone in the region’s connectivity and cultural heritage. The airport, named after the revered sage Maharishi Valmiki, holds the promise of fostering tourism, business activities, and employment opportunities in Ayodhya and its surrounding areas.

“During a public event following the inauguration, Prime Minister Modi expressed his happiness in naming the Ayodhya Airport after Maharishi Valmiki, highlighting the significance of connecting the airport to the divine and newly constructed Ram temple. He emphasized the profound connection between Maharishi Valmiki’s Ramayana, a source of knowledge, and the legacy of Shri Ram”.

The Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, developed at a cost exceeding Rs 1450 crore, is set to transform the air travel experience for passengers. In its first phase, the airport boasts the capacity to handle 10 lakh passengers annually, with plans for expansion in the second phase to cater to 60 lakh commuters each year.

The terminal building of the airport spans an impressive 6500 sqm and is adorned with architectural elements inspired by the upcoming Shri Ram Mandir of Ayodhya. The facade reflects the temple’s design, creating a seamless blend of modern infrastructure and cultural aesthetics. The interiors of the terminal building showcase local art, paintings, and murals depicting the life of Bhagwan Shri Ram, further enhancing the cultural richness of the airport.

“Noteworthy sustainability features have been integrated into the airport’s design, aligning with environmental consciousness and earning it a GRIHA – 5-star rating. These features include an insulated roofing system, LED lighting, rainwater harvesting, landscaping with fountains, a water treatment plant, sewage treatment plant, and a solar power plant”.

Prime Minister Modi emphasized that the airport’s inauguration is not just about providing enhanced connectivity but also about fostering a deep cultural connection to Ayodhya’s rich heritage. The strategic development of the airport is expected to stimulate economic activities in the region, with improved connectivity translating into increased tourism, business opportunities, and employment prospects.

As Maharishi Valmiki International Airport takes flight, it stands as a testament to India’s commitment to modern infrastructure while celebrating its cultural roots. The airport is poised to become a gateway to Ayodhya’s cultural and religious landmarks, making it a symbol of progress and connectivity for the region.
