Goa: Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked a historic moment today with the inauguration of the Integrated Sea Survival Training Centre, ONGC Institute in Goa. Witnessing a briefing on underwater escape exercises and a demonstration of the training center, Modi expressed his delight at the development.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister shared his excitement about dedicating the Sea Survival Centre to the nation. He emphasized its significance as a landmark achievement for India, propelling the country into the forefront of the sea survival training ecosystem. The center’s rigorous emergency response training is expected to save numerous lives by ensuring timely and efficient rescue operations.
Additionally, Modi shared a video outlining the necessity of a modern Sea Survival Centre and its substantial benefits for the nation. The center, developed by ONGC, is designed to train 10,000-15,000 personnel annually, significantly enhancing India’s sea survival capabilities.
Accompanied by Goa’s Chief Minister, Shri Pramod Sawant, and the Union Minister for Petroleum, Oil and Natural Gas, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, among others, Modi underscored the importance of such initiatives in advancing India’s preparedness for maritime emergencies.
The ONGC Sea Survival Centre stands as a pioneering establishment, setting global standards in sea survival training. Simulated exercises in harsh weather conditions, it equip trainees with essential skills, increasing their chances of safe escape during real-life disasters.
