PM Modi Inaugurates Rs 7,200 Crore Development Projects in West Bengal

In a significant move towards bolstering infrastructure and fostering growth in West Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a slew of development projects totaling a staggering Rs 7,200 crore in Arambagh, Hooghly. These projects, spanning various sectors including rail, ports, oil pipeline, LPG supply, and wastewater treatment, mark a transformative step towards advancing the socio-economic landscape of the region.

Addressing a gathering at the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Modi underscored India’s rapid growth trajectory in the 21st century and reiterated the nation’s resolve to achieve comprehensive development, aiming to make India ‘Viksit’ by 2047. He emphasized the government’s commitment to empowering youth, women, farmers, and the underprivileged sections of society, highlighting the significant strides made in poverty alleviation efforts.

The Prime Minister highlighted the inauguration and foundation laying of development projects worth over Rs 7,000 crore, emphasizing the government’s focus on modernizing rail infrastructure in West Bengal. Notable projects include the introduction of the third rail line connecting Jhargram – Salgajhari to boost connectivity and spur tourism and industrial growth. Additionally, initiatives such as the doubling of rail lines and strengthening of port infrastructure at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port in Kolkata are poised to enhance transportation efficiency and facilitate economic expansion in the region.

PM Modi lauded India’s commitment to sustainable development, citing the Haldia-Barauni crude oil pipeline as a prime example of balancing development with environmental preservation. He also highlighted the significance of projects like the LPG bottling plant and sewage treatment plants in addressing critical needs while promoting ecological sustainability.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister emphasized the role of infrastructure projects in generating employment opportunities and fostering economic prosperity. With a substantial budget allocation for railway development in West Bengal, the government aims to prioritize electrification, passenger facilities enhancement, and station redevelopment, ushering in a new era of modernization and efficiency in rail transport.

Expressing confidence in the collective efforts of the people of West Bengal, Prime Minister Modi conveyed his best wishes for the successful implementation of the development projects. The event witnessed the presence of dignitaries including Governor of West Bengal, Dr. C V Ananda Bose, and Union Minister of State for Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shri Shantanu Thakur, underscoring the collaborative approach towards driving progress and prosperity in the region.
