On March 25th, 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates the Whitefield (Kadugodi) to the Krishnarajapura Metro Line of the Bangalore Metro. The 13.71 km stretch is part of the Reach-1 extension project under Bangalore Metro Phase 2.
The new metro line will provide connectivity to important areas such as Whitefield, Mahadevapura, KR Puram, and surrounding areas, which are major IT and business hubs of Bengaluru. This will help in easing the traffic congestion in these areas and make travel more efficient and faster for the residents.
The project was completed in a record time of 45 months, despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. The metro line has six stations, which are: Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum, Baiyappanahalli, Swami Vivekananda Road, Tin Factory, KR Puram, and Mahadevapura. These stations are equipped with modern facilities, including elevators, escalators, and ticketing machines.
The metro line is also expected to promote sustainable transportation, reduce pollution, and provide a comfortable and safe commuting option for the residents of Bengaluru. The project is a major step towards improving the transportation infrastructure of the city and promoting its economic growth.
The Prime Minister, in his address, congratulated the people of Bengaluru and said that the new metro line is a symbol of the city’s progress and development.
