On the 16th of January PM Modi said on Thiruvalluvar Day, I pay homage to the wise Thiruvalluvar and recall his noble thoughts. Diverse in nature, they are a source of great motivation for people from all walks of life. He said, “I would also urge the youth to read the Kural And I insist that the youth must study Thirukkural. They will realize that Kural is very subtle”.
Know About Thiruvalluvar:-
Valluvar, commonly known as Thiruvalluvar, was a celebrated Tamil poet and philosopher. He is most well-known as the author of the Tirukkuṟaḷ, a compilation of couplets on ethics, political and economic issues, as well as love. Tamil literature is widely considered to be an exceptional and cherished work.
A scholar of Tamil literature, Kamil Zvelebil, states that almost no authentic information is available about Valluvar. Different biographers have inferred his life and likely background from his literary works.
All major Indian religions, as well as Christian missionaries of the 19th century, have tried to claim him as secretly inspired (crypto-) or originally belonging to their tradition, though There are many different stories about Valluvar’s life, some of which may not be accurate.
Little is known for certain about his family background, religious affiliation, or birthplace. He is believed to have lived at least in the town of Mylapore (a neighborhood of present-day Chennai), and the linguistic analyses of his writings date his floruit variously from the fourth century BCE to early fifth century CE, based on the traditional accounts.
Valluvar’s birth year is debated, with Maraimalai Adigal giving 31 BCE as the birth year and Kamil Zvelebil inferring the Tirukkuṟaḷ and Valluvar are best dated to around 500 CE.
Since his time, Valluvar has influenced a wide range of scholars across the ethical, social, political, economic, religious, philosophical, and spiritual spheres. He is long venerated as a great sage, and his literary works are classics of Tamil culture.
