Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Odisha and Assam is poised to be a landmark event, marked by the inauguration and unveiling of a series of strategic infrastructure projects aimed at bolstering the energy sector, enhancing connectivity, and fortifying the region’s economic development.
In Sambalpur, Odisha, on 3rd February, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the ‘Dhamra – Angul Pipeline Section’ of the ‘Jagdishpur-Haldia & Bokaro-Dhamra Pipeline Project (JHBDPL),’ a vital component of the ‘Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga.’ This project, costing over Rs. 2450 crore, will connect Odisha to the National Gas Grid. Additionally, the foundation stone for the ‘Nagpur Jharsuguda Natural Gas Pipeline Section’ of the Mumbai-Nagpur-Jharsuguda Pipeline, valued at more than Rs. 2660 crore, will be laid, ensuring improved natural gas availability to Odisha and neighboring states.
The Prime Minister will also dedicate and lay the foundation stone for power projects exceeding Rs. 28,980 crore, contributing to low-cost power supply for Odisha and neighboring states. The inauguration of coal infrastructure projects by Mahanadi Coalfields Limited, including First Mile Connectivity projects, will significantly enhance the quality and supply of dry fuel from Odisha.
In addition, the Prime Minister will inaugurate road sector projects and lay the foundation stone for railway projects, amounting to a cumulative cost of approximately Rs. 4256 crore. These projects will not only enhance connectivity in the region but also contribute to economic development.
Furthermore, the permanent campus of IIM Sambalpur will be inaugurated, and the Jharsuguda Head Post Office Heritage Building will be dedicated to the nation during the Prime Minister’s visit to Sambalpur.
“Moving to Guwahati on 4th February, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for projects totaling Rs. 11,000 crore. Key highlights include the Maa Kamakhya Divya Pariyojana, which focuses on providing world-class amenities to pilgrims visiting the Kamakhya temple. Additionally, road upgradation projects under the South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation Corridor Connectivity and sports infrastructure development projects will be initiated, emphasizing the government’s commitment to overall regional development”.
