PM Modi to Inaugurate 9th G20 Parliamentary Speakers’ Summit in New Delhi.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 9th G20 Parliamentary Speakers’ Summit (P20) on October 13, 2023, in New Delhi. The summit is a significant event hosted by the Parliament of India under the broader framework of India’s G20 Presidency.

This summit, aligning with the overarching theme of India’s G20 Presidency, is themed as “Parliaments for One Earth, One Family, One Future.” The event is set to witness the participation of Speakers of Parliaments from G20 member nations as well as invitee countries. Notably, this year, the Pan-African Parliament will participate in the P20 Summit for the first time following the African Union’s membership in the G20, a development that occurred during the New Delhi G20 Leaders’ Summit held on September 9-10, 2023.

The thematic sessions during the 9th P20 Summit will delve into four key subjects, aiming to address pressing global challenges. These subjects include “Transformation in People’s Lives through Public Digital Platforms,” “Women-led development,” “Accelerating Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” and “Sustainable Energy Transition.” These discussions are expected to provide valuable insights and potential solutions to a range of global issues.

Prior to the main summit, a pre-summit Parliamentary Forum on LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) will convene on October 12, 2023. The forum will provide a platform for parliamentary leaders to deliberate on initiatives aimed at promoting a greener and more sustainable future that harmonizes with the environment.

The 9th G20 Parliamentary Speakers’ Summit promises to be a forum for constructive dialogue and collaborative efforts among global parliamentary leaders to address some of the most critical challenges facing our world today.
