In a significant step toward fulfilling the vision of “Housing for All,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Swabhiman Apartments, Ashok Vihar, Delhi, on 3 January 2025, to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for several transformative projects.
In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project
The highlight of the visit will be the inauguration of 1,675 newly constructed flats for residents of Jhuggi Jhopri (JJ) clusters under the Delhi Development Authority’s (DDA) In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project. PM Modi will personally hand over keys to eligible beneficiaries, marking the completion of the project’s second phase.
- Affordable Contribution: While the government invests ₹25 lakh per flat, beneficiaries contribute a nominal ₹1.42 lakh and ₹30,000 for five years of maintenance.
- Objective: The project aims to provide a healthier, well-equipped living environment.
Urban Redevelopment Projects
- World Trade Centre (WTC) at Nauroji Nagar:
- State-of-the-art commercial towers replacing 600 outdated quarters.
- Offers 34 lakh sq. ft. of premium space, featuring green initiatives like solar energy and rainwater harvesting.
- GPRA Type-II Quarters at Sarojini Nagar:
- 28 towers with over 2,500 units, promoting eco-conscious living through sustainable designs.
Other Key Inaugurations
- CBSE Integrated Office Complex, Dwarka:
- Built at ₹300 crore, this eco-friendly building includes an advanced data center and water management systems.
New Foundations for Delhi University
PM Modi will also lay foundations for three projects worth ₹600 crore, including state-of-the-art academic blocks and Veer Savarkar College.
