Emphasizing the theme for this year, “Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” Jaishankar highlighted the significance of unity and peace that Yoga represents. He encouraged everyone to actively participate and make Yoga an integral part of their lives.

“The 9th International Yoga Day, a globally recognized event promoting the holistic benefits of Yoga, is set to receive a significant boost with the presence of the Prime Minister at the United Nations. Dr. S. Jaishankar, in his announcement, underscored the importance of Yoga in fostering harmony, unity, and well-being”.

“This year’s theme, Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, furthers the message of unity and peace that Yoga represents,” expressed Dr. S. Jaishankar. Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, a Sanskrit phrase, translates to “the world is one family.” It encapsulates the essence of Yoga, which transcends boundaries and unites people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and nations.

“Yoga, an ancient practice originating from India, encompasses physical, mental, and spiritual disciplines aimed at achieving balance and harmony. It has gained immense popularity worldwide due to its numerous health benefits and its ability to promote overall well-being”.

Dr. S. Jaishankar called upon individuals from all walks of life to embrace Yoga and incorporate it into their daily routines. He emphasized that Yoga goes beyond physical exercises and stretches, serving as a pathway to self-discovery, inner peace, and a healthy lifestyle. By practicing Yoga, individuals can enhance their physical fitness, mental clarity, and emotional resilience.

The participation of the Prime Minister in the 9th International Yoga Day event at the UN highlights the global recognition and significance of Yoga as a transformative practice. It provides an opportunity for the international community to come together, celebrate diversity, and foster a sense of unity.

“Dr. S. Jaishankar’s call to action resonates with the essence of Yoga, urging individuals worldwide to embrace this ancient discipline and make it an essential part of their lives. The positive impact of Yoga extends beyond individuals; it ripples through families, communities, and nations, promoting harmony, peace, and well-being”.

As the world grapples with various challenges, including the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the practice of Yoga can offer solace, resilience, and a sense of unity. It serves as a reminder that despite our differences, we are all interconnected and share a common goal of a harmonious world.
