PM in Palghar:
At around 1:30 PM, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of the Vadhvan Port in Palghar, a transformative project with an estimated cost of Rs. 76,000 crores. Located near Dahanu town, this port will emerge as one of India’s largest deep-water ports, providing direct connectivity to international shipping routes. The port’s state-of-the-art facilities, including deep berths and modern cargo handling infrastructure, are designed to accommodate ultra-large cargo ships, reducing transit times and costs. The project is expected to generate substantial employment opportunities and stimulate economic growth in the region. Emphasizing sustainable development, the Vadhvan Port aims to minimize environmental impact while bolstering India’s position as a global trade hub.
In addition to the Vadhvan Port, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for 218 fisheries projects worth Rs. 1,560 crores. These initiatives, spread across the nation, aim to enhance the infrastructure and productivity of the fisheries sector, potentially creating over five lakh employment opportunities. The Prime Minister will also launch the National Roll Out of the Vessel Communication and Support system, a Rs. 360 crore project developed by ISRO, which will improve communication and safety for fishermen at sea.
Other projects include the development of fishing harbors, Integrated Aquaparks, and the adoption of advanced aquaculture technologies, all aimed at enhancing fish production, improving post-harvest management, and creating sustainable livelihoods.
