Goa: PM Modi marked a significant day in Goa by inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for development projects valued over Rs 1330 crores. These projects, part of the Viksit Bharat, Viksit Goa 2047 program, encompass a wide spectrum of sectors, including education, sports, water treatment, waste management, and tourism.
During the inauguration ceremony, PM Modi took a walkthrough of an exhibition showcasing the projects, underlining the government’s commitment to fostering growth and development in the region. Notably, he distributed appointment orders to 1930 new government recruits and handed over sanction letters to beneficiaries of various welfare schemes, emphasizing the government’s dedication to inclusive development.
In his address, PM Modi highlighted Goa’s natural beauty and cultural heritage, praising it as a favorite tourist destination. He paid tribute to notable figures born in Goa and emphasized the state’s contributions to Indian culture and heritage. The Prime Minister also recalled the exposition of the Sacred Relics of St. Francis Xavier and the peaceful co-existence of Christian and other communities, exemplifying the ethos of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’.
Discussing the development projects, PM Modi emphasized their significance in propelling Goa’s growth trajectory. He mentioned the permanent campus of the National Institute of Technology, the campus of the National Institute of Watersports, and the integrated waste management facility among the projects inaugurated or for which foundation stones were laid. These initiatives, coupled with appointment letter distribution, underscore Goa’s march towards prosperity and well-being.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the government’s focus on infrastructure development, welfare schemes saturation, and enhancing connectivity in Goa. He underscored the importance of the ‘Double Engine’ government model, which has propelled the state’s progress, and lauded Goa’s social diversity and harmony.
The Prime Minister also outlined the government’s initiatives in sectors like housing, healthcare, and fisheries, aiming to uplift the livelihoods of Goans. He mentioned the expansion of schemes like PM Awas Yojna and Ayushman Yojna in this year’s budget, emphasizing their impact on improving the lives of citizens.
PM Modi reiterated the collective responsibility for Goa’s rapid development and urged all stakeholders to contribute to the state’s progress. The event was attended by dignitaries including Governor Shri P S Sreedharan Pillai, Chief Minister Shri Pramod Sawant, and Union Minister of State Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, among others.
