The 15th installment of the PM-KISAN scheme, scheduled for release on November 15, 2023, marks a significant milestone in supporting farmers across India. Over 8.0 Cr. farmers are set to receive a total amount surpassing Rs. 18,000 Cr., providing crucial financial support for their agricultural and incidental needs.
Landmark Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme
Launched on February 24, 2019, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) stands as one of the world’s largest Direct Benefit Transfer schemes. Aimed at ensuring an inclusive and productive agricultural sector, this flagship scheme has already disbursed more than Rs. 2.61 lakh crores to over 11 crore farmers.
Technological Advancements for Seamless Implementation
To enhance transparency and reach genuine beneficiaries, eKYC and Aadhaar seeding have been made mandatory for the 15th installment. The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has introduced a user-friendly mobile application for facial authentication-based e-KYC. This innovative app empowers farmers to complete their eKYC and assist others in their community, minimizing middlemen’s involvement.
PM-KISAN AI Chatbot: A Farmer’s Companion
In line with leveraging technology for effective communication, the Ministry has launched the PM-KISAN AI Chatbot (Kisan e-Mitra). Integrated with Bhashini, this chatbot offers support in multiple languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Odia, Bengali, and English. Farmers can now swiftly address their grievances and receive timely information, ensuring a seamless experience with the PM-KISAN scheme.
