Shri Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister, is slated to visit Karnataka on 27th February 2023. At 11:45 AM, Prime Minister will inspect Shivamogga Airport, followed by inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of multiple projects at Shivamogga. At 3:15 PM, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone, dedicate multiple development initiatives at Belagavi, and release the 13th installment of PM-KISAN thereafter.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for several key infrastructure projects in the Malnad region of Karnataka, including the newly developed Shivamogga Airport. The airport, which has been constructed at a cost of around Rs 450 crore, is expected to significantly improve air connectivity in the region. With a Passenger Terminal Building capable of handling 300 passengers per hour, the airport is set to enhance the accessibility of Shivamogga and surrounding areas.

In addition to the airport, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for two railway projects in Shivamogga. The first project is the Shivamogga – Shikaripura – Ranebennur new Railway line, which is expected to be developed at a cost of Rs 990 crore. This new railway line will improve connectivity in the Malnad region, linking it with the Bengaluru-Mumbai mainline. The second project is the Koteganguru Railway coaching depot in Shivamogga city, which will be developed at a cost of over Rs 100 crore. This depot will allow new trains to be started from Shivamogga, while also helping to decongest maintenance facilities in Bengaluru and Mysuru.

Several road development projects were also announced during the ceremony, including the construction of a new Bypass road for Shikaripura Town on NH 766C connecting Byndur – Ranibennur; widening of NH-169A from Megaravalli to Agumbe; and the construction of a new bridge at Bharathipura in Thirthahally Taluk on NH 169. These projects, which will be developed at a cumulative cost of more than Rs 215 crore, are expected to significantly improve connectivity in the region.

The Prime Minister also will inaugurate and laid the foundation stone for multiple multi-village schemes worth more than Rs 950 crore under the Jal Jeevan Mission. These schemes include the inauguration of one multi-village scheme for Gowthamapura and 127 other villages and the laying of the foundation stone for three other multi-village schemes to be developed at a total cost of more than Rs 8 thousand & sixty crores. The four schemes will provide functional household piped water connections and are expected to benefit more than 4.4 lakh people.

PM in Belagavi

In yet another demonstration of the Prime Minister’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of farmers, the 13th instalment amount of approximately Rs. 16,000 crores under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme will be disbursed through direct benefit transfer to over 8 crore beneficiaries. The scheme provides eligible farmer families with a yearly benefit of Rs. 6,000 in three equal instalments of Rs. 2,000 each.

In addition to this, the Prime Minister will dedicate the redeveloped Belagavi Railway Station building to the nation, during the programme. The railway station has been redeveloped at an estimated cost of around Rs. 190 crores, to provide world-class facilities to passengers. Another railway project that will be dedicated to the nation by the Prime Minister is the Londa-Belagavi-Ghataprabha section rail line doubling project at Belagavi, which was developed at a cost of around Rs. 930 crores. This project will enhance line capacity along the busy Mumbai–Pune–Hubballi–Bengaluru railway line, promoting trade, commerce and economic activity in the region.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for six multi-village scheme projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission in Belagavi, with a total cost of approximately Rs. 1585 crores, which will benefit over 8.8 lakh people in more than 315 villages.

These initiatives demonstrate the government’s unwavering commitment to the development of the country’s infrastructure and the welfare of farmers and rural communities. The PM-KISAN scheme has already provided significant support to farmers across the country, and the continued disbursement of instalments is a welcome step towards achieving the goal of doubling farmers’ income by 2022.

The redevelopment of Belagavi Railway Station and the Londa-Belagavi-Ghataprabha section rail line doubling project will greatly improve the region’s connectivity and provide modern facilities to passengers. The multi-village scheme projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission will significantly improve the water supply in the region, benefiting numerous villages and the local population.
