Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi arrived in Varanasi after a bustling day in Gujarat and promptly went to inspect the recently inaugurated Shivpur-Phulwaria-Lahartara road around 11 pm on Thursday. This newly constructed road, built for Rs 360 crore, holds significant importance for approximately 5 lakh residents residing in the southern part of Varanasi, including areas near BHU and BLW.
The road, aimed at improving connectivity, is proving to be a boon for commuters traveling towards destinations such as the airport, Lucknow, Azamgarh, and Ghazipur. Notably, it has successfully reduced travel time from BHU to the airport from 75 minutes to just 45 minutes, and from Lahartara to Kachahri from 30 minutes to a mere 15 minutes, thus significantly easing traffic congestion in the region.
This project stands as a testament to effective inter-ministerial coordination, with contributions from departments including Railways and Defence, all working towards enhancing the quality of life for the citizens of Varanasi. Prime Minister Modi, expressing his satisfaction with the project, took to X to share his thoughts, stating, “Upon landing in Kashi, inspected the Shivpur-Phulwaria-Lahartara Marg. This project was inaugurated recently and has been greatly helpful to people in the southern part of the city.
