PM Narendra Modi won the Varanasi seat by 1.50 lakh votes

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has won the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat for the third consecutive term, but his victory margin has narrowed significantly. The Lok Sabha election 2024 results of the Varanasi constituency were declared on Saturday, June 4.

The counting of votes polled in the Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi contested as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, has been completed. Modi won the seat by over 1.50 lakh votes, a significant reduction from his previous margins.

Narendra Modi won the seat in 2014 by a margin of 3.72 lakh votes and in 2019 by a margin of 4.5 lakh votes. This time, his victory margin was significantly lower, indicating a closer contest.

The BJP has made Varanasi its stronghold since 1991, and Modi has been the party’s candidate for the seat since 2014. He won the seat for the first time in 2014, defeating Arvind Kejriwal of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). In 2019, he won against Shalini Yadav of the Samajwadi Party.

The Varanasi constituency has been a key battleground for the BJP, and Narendra Modi’s victory is seen as a significant boost for the party.
