A group of IAS officers from the 2022 batch, currently posted as Assistant Secretaries in various Union Ministries and Departments called on the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre today (July 1, 2024).
IAS Officer: The Dream Career of Indian Administrative Service
Addressing the officers, President Murmu highlighted the prestige of the Indian Administrative Service, noting it as a dream career for many ambitious youth in India. She emphasized the hard work required to join this service and urged the officers to work for the welfare of citizens with sensitivity, honesty, and efficiency.
Challenges in the High-Tech Era
In her speech, President Murmu discussed the increased challenges faced by officers in the high-technology era, where real-time information is accessible to all. She advised them to create systems that keep them future-ready, as the needs and aspirations of people continuously evolve.

President Murmu stressed the importance of public participation in achieving inclusive and sustainable development. She highlighted that IAS officers must play dual roles as administrators and facilitators, ensuring accountable, transparent, and effective administration.

The President underlined the necessity for IAS officers to win and maintain public trust. She recommended using technology to enhance accessibility and transparency while cautioning against self-publicity. She also emphasized the importance of integrity and righteousness in their conduct to build a developed India with new thinking and solutions.
