A delegation comprising medical students and consultants from various medical colleges in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh had the privilege of meeting President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan today, March 4, 2024. Their visit to Delhi is part of the Sevankur Bharat Programme initiated by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Vaidyakiya Pratishthan.
During the meeting, President Murmu expressed her satisfaction with the longstanding efforts of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Vaidyakiya Pratishthan in delivering healthcare services to underserved communities at affordable rates for the past three decades. She commended the organization for its commitment to public welfare, skill development, employment generation, and the empowerment of Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
Highlighting the significance of the Sevankur Bharat program, inaugurated in 1997, President Murmu emphasized its role in fostering national unity and integrity. She praised its contribution to instilling a sense of public service and prioritizing the nation’s interests among youth. Notably, she applauded the “During Vacation – One Week for Nation” initiative, where students immerse themselves in tribal areas, thereby enriching their understanding of social issues and contributing to community development.
Addressing the gathering, President Murmu underscored the ethos of healthcare professions, stressing that prioritizing societal well-being over financial gain is essential. She urged healthcare professionals to imbibe values of compassion, kindness, and philanthropy in their character while fulfilling their duties.
“Drawing inspiration from the life of Babasaheb Ambedkar, the President emphasized the importance of using personal success for the collective welfare of society. She encouraged everyone to uphold principles of social justice, equality, and fraternity, echoing the ideals championed by Babasaheb Ambedkar”.
