Major General Smita Devrani, commissioned into the Military Nursing Service (MNS) in 1983, has had an illustrious career spanning almost four decades. Prior to assuming the role of Additional Director General (ADG) of MNS on October 1, 2021, she held various significant clinical, staff, and administrative positions. Some of her notable appointments include Principal Matron at Army Hospital (Research & Referral), Brigadier MNS at Headquarters (Central Command), Principal Matron at Command Hospital (Southern Command), and Director MNS (Admin.). Her vast experience and leadership have played a pivotal role in advancing the standards of nursing care within the armed forces.
Brigadier Amita Devrani’s Contributions
Brigadier Amita Devrani, also a distinguished member of the Military Nursing Service, was commissioned in 1986. She assumed the position of Brigadier MNS at Southern Command on September 1, 2021. Throughout her career, she has held several significant roles, including Principal of the College of Nursing at Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, and the College of Nursing at Army Hospital (Research & Referral). She has also served as the Vice Principal at the College of Nursing, Indian Naval Hospital Ship (INHS) Asvini. Brigadier Amita Devrani’s expertise and dedication have been instrumental in shaping the nursing education and training programs within the MNS.
