The President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu inaugurates a National Convention on ‘Women as Foundation of a Value-based Society’ at the Om Shanti Retreat Centre in Gurugram.
The President emphasized the crucial role that women have played in shaping the values and ethics in Indian society. She expressed her happiness that the Brahmakumaris organization, the world’s largest spiritual institution run by women, is working towards reviving Indian values and culture.
During the event, the President also launched an all-India awareness campaign ‘Empowering the Family’ to support women and families. She acknowledged that while women’s participation in various fields has increased, they still face challenges in reaching top positions due to family responsibilities.
The President called for a change in mindset that raising children and managing the home is solely the responsibility of women. She stressed that families would be empowered only through the empowerment of women and that empowered families would lead to an empowered society and nation.
The President emphasized that people today are running after money, power, fame, and prestige, but materialistic happiness is not enough to bring eternal peace. She stressed the importance of leading a spiritual life to attain divine bliss.
The President also spoke about the role of mothers in the family, stating that mothers are the first teachers in the family and should educate their children with the right values, rather than just focusing on their careers. She emphasized that mothers have the power to shape the future of families and society by inculcating values such as compassion, empathy, and selflessness in their children.
The President’s message was clear that women play a crucial role in building a value-based society, and society and families must support them in fulfilling their potential.
The ‘Empowering the Family’ campaign is a step towards creating a more inclusive and empowering society where women are able to achieve their aspirations while balancing their family and professional responsibilities.
