President Murmu Addresses the 10th Convocation of Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya.

President of India Droupadi Murmu presided over and addressed the 10th convocation of Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, on September 1, 2023.

During her address, President Murmu highlighted the crucial role of innovation and the adoption of science and technology for progress in the modern world. She emphasized that the development of science and technology requires suitable facilities, a conducive environment, and encouragement. President Murmu expressed her satisfaction at the establishment of the Accelerator-Based Research Centre at Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, expressing confidence in its potential for valuable research contributions.

“Reflecting on the recent success of the Chandrayaan-3 mission, President Murmu commended the dedication and resilience behind this achievement. She urged the university to organize knowledge-enhancing programs and competitions related to this milestone, which would contribute to fostering a scientific temperament in society”.

President Murmu celebrated India’s status as a respected member of the Nuclear Club and the Space Club, achieved through the hard work and talent of Indian scientists and engineers. She lauded India’s example of achieving “High Science” at “Low Cost,” a model appreciated both within the country and internationally. President Murmu encouraged students at Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya to strive for high-level competence, enabling them to participate in critical decisions at the societal, state, and national levels. She emphasized that creating opportunities amidst challenges is an effective path to success.

The President also paid tribute to Guru Ghasidas, emphasizing his message of equality for all human beings, particularly the underprivileged, backward, and women, which he propagated 250 years ago. President Murmu urged today’s youth to follow these ideals and work towards building a better society.

President Murmu acknowledged the significant tribal population in the vicinity of Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya and highlighted the valuable life values that students can learn from the tribal community. These include sensitivity towards nature, a sense of equality in community life, and the active participation of women in society.
