The ceremonial session of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Indian Red Cross Society took place today (July 17, 2023) at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre, under the esteemed presence of President Droupadi Murmu.
In her address, the President emphasized the significance of philanthropy, which has long been regarded as a vital human value in Indian tradition. She expressed her delight in observing that the Indian Red Cross Society has been serving the people for over a century, demonstrating unwavering commitment through relief work during natural disasters and health emergencies. Through more than 100 blood donation centers and mobile campaigns across the country, the Society is currently fulfilling approximately 10 percent of the nation’s blood needs. She commended the Society for its excellent role in safely collecting blood for those in need and promoting the culture of voluntary blood donation. Additionally, she urged the members of the Red Cross Society to address misconceptions surrounding blood donation and engage people, particularly the youth, in this noble social cause.
