MNIT Jaipur: On September 18, 2024, the President of India, Droupadi Murmu graced the 18th convocation of the Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The President emphasized the pivotal role of the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) in promoting quality technical education and research across the country.
MNITs: Institutions of National Importance
During her address, President Murmu highlighted that NITs are recognized as ‘Institutions of National Importance’ due to their significant contribution to developing skilled human resources. She noted that half of the students at NITs come from the local state, while the other half are from different states, fostering a spirit of unity in diversity.
Role in Research and Innovation: MNIT Jaipur
The President praised MNIT’s Innovation and Incubation Centre for organizing numerous start-up programs that have benefited many participants. She mentioned that around 125 start-ups have been registered, creating new employment opportunities and positioning India as a hub for research and innovation.
Empowering Women in STEM: MNIT Jaipur
Murmu expressed her satisfaction with the increasing enrollment of women in STEM fields. She pointed out that out of 20 gold medals awarded during the convocation, 12 were won by female students, showcasing their potential when provided with equal opportunities. The President encouraged graduates to embrace new challenges and opportunities as they embark on their professional journeys.
