Delhi: In a significant and inspiring initiative, the President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, engaged with a group of accomplished women entrepreneurs who are founders and co-founders of leading start-ups and unicorns. This meeting, held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on January 18, 2024, was part of the broader initiative called “The President with the People,” aimed at fostering a deeper connection with citizens and recognizing their valuable contributions.
During the interaction, President Murmu applauded the transformative impact of these women entrepreneurs on the Indian business environment. Emphasizing the significance of the ‘Start-up India’ program, she commended the innovative efforts of youth, stating that India now boasts the third-largest start-up ecosystem globally, with over 1,17,000 start-ups and more than 100 unicorns.
President Murmu highlighted the diverse dimensions of Indian women’s capabilities in entrepreneurship, ranging from tech start-ups to social enterprises. She stressed that their achievements serve as a powerful source of inspiration, not only in the economic realm but also as trailblazers breaking traditional barriers and empowering future generations. These entrepreneurs, according to the President, are architects of an inclusive economic future based on talent and ambition rather than gender.
“Addressing the entrepreneurs as more than business leaders, President Murmu described them as harbingers of change and role models for millions of aspiring women. She urged them to identify and support other enterprising women, contributing to a ripple effect of success stories across the nation. The President emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to build an empowered India where every woman, with confidence and determination, pursues and fulfills her dreams”.
