The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, lent her presence to the vibrant celebrations of Uttarakhand State Foundation Day in Dehradun on November 9, 2023. Her speech highlighted the state’s tremendous progress and the government’s endeavors toward multifaceted growth.
In her address, President Smt Droupadi Murmu extended warm greetings to the people of Uttarakhand on this momentous occasion. She expressed her delight at witnessing the diligent efforts of the people, stating, “It is a matter of happiness that with the new identity, the hardworking people of Uttarakhand are scaling new heights of development & progress.”
“The President underscored the ongoing strides in Uttarakhand’s development, pointing out the rapid advancements in physical and digital connectivity. She commended the state’s infrastructural growth and the government’s dedicated focus on disaster management, acknowledging these as critical elements in the state’s forward trajectory”.
A significant aspect highlighted in her speech was the increasing enthusiasm among investors due to the state’s multi-dimensional progress. President Murmu lauded the signing of MoUs worth over 81,500 crores during the road shows for the upcoming Global Investors’ Summit at Dehradun. She expressed confidence that these initiatives will create extensive employment opportunities for the youth of Uttarakhand.
“Furthermore, the President appreciated the state government’s efforts in balancing ecology and economy in Uttarakhand’s development. She lauded the initiative to estimate the Gross Environment Product (GEP), emphasizing that focusing on both state GDP and state GEP in a region rich in natural resources will fortify sustainable growth”.
Celebrating the legacy of valor and patriotism in Uttarakhand, President Smt Droupadi Murmu praised the state’s role in national security. She highlighted the exemplary dedication of the youth from Uttarakhand joining the Indian Armed Forces to safeguard the nation. Notably, she highlighted the honor bestowed upon the Kumaon and Garhwal regiments, naming two esteemed Indian Army regiments after the regions of Uttarakhand, affirming the state’s rich tradition of gallantry.
