Prime Minister Modi Extends Birthday Wishes to Union Minister Anurag Thakur.

In a gesture of appreciation and warm wishes, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media to extend his heartfelt birthday greetings to Union Minister Anurag Thakur. The Prime Minister’s message lauded Anurag Thakur’s tireless efforts in advancing India’s sports and youth affairs, as well as his role in integrating the nation’s youth energy into various nation-building initiatives. The message further conveyed the hope for a long and healthy life for the Minister.

Anurag Singh Thakur, born on October 24, 1974, is a prominent Indian politician affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He serves as a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha from Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh. Currently, he holds the pivotal role of Minister of Sports, Youth Affairs, and Minister of Information and Broadcasting in the Second Modi ministry.

“The political journey of Anurag Thakur is marked by dedication and consistent service to the nation. Hailing from a political family in Himachal Pradesh, he is a four-time Member of Parliament, having represented his constituency in the 14th, 15th, 16th, and 17th Lok Sabha”.

Before his current responsibilities, Anurag Thakur served as a Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs, contributing to the financial and corporate aspects of the country’s governance.

Anurag Thakur’s involvement in Indian cricket administration is also noteworthy. He assumed the role of President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from May 2015 to February 2017. However, he had to step down from this position in compliance with a Supreme Court order related to BCCI governance.

His association with sports extended beyond cricket. In a unique move, on July 29, 2016, he became the first serving Member of Parliament from the BJP to become a regular commissioned officer in the Territorial Army, demonstrating his commitment to the country’s defense.

Anurag Thakur’s political journey hasn’t been without its share of challenges. He was involved in a legal dispute between the Himachal Pradesh State Government and the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association concerning the rights to the International Cricket Stadium in Dharamshala. His tenure as the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also witnessed controversy and legal proceedings.

Prime Minister Modi’s warm wishes acknowledge not only Anurag Thakur’s birthday but also his multifaceted contributions to the nation, spanning sports, politics, and youth affairs. The message serves as a reminder of the value of dedicated leaders in India’s journey toward progress and development.
