On September 23, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the foundation stone-laying ceremony for this cricket stadium in Varanasi. What sets this International Cricket Stadium apart is its deep-rooted connection to the culture of Kashi and the essence of Lord Shiva. With a budget exceeding Rs 325 crore, the stadium, located in Ganjari (Rajatalab) of Varanasi, promises to capture the essence of Lord Shiva in its very design.

The entrance will take the form of a damru (a small drum), and the floodlights will be reminiscent of Shiva’s trident. Seating arrangements within the stadium will mimic the steps of the Ganga ghat, providing a cultural touch. Spanning 30.6 acres, this international cricket stadium will accommodate 30,000 spectators and feature seven pitches, practice nets, a playing field, lounges, commentator boxes, press galleries, and an additional smaller ground adjacent to the main arena, along with parking facilities.
